Project 1 deals with the understanding of materiality in relation to use and experience: Materiality is seen as a setting for communal activities to convey meaning and associations as well as a function of structure and construction.
Students will be required to design a Food Kiosk, which is intended to showcase architectural form as a construct of materiality for a proposed set of activities. The exploration of themes centred around the notion of food preparation and consumption in this project will relate to the programmatic requirements in Project 2.

Project Brief
Transformable Food Kiosk

The Timeless Art
Food, an art that transcends time, the food kiosk aims to express the timeless art of making the wan tan noodle dish by expressing the essences of the old in the forms of the new. The organic form of the design was inspired by the art and motion of the noodle making process, such as wrapping, pulling, draining and stretching that each moulded a different part of the structure. The structure is designed to function both as a food kiosk and as a art installation, capturing timeless motion both in its form and use.
